NPS Series Piezo Stages for Atomic Force Microscopy
High performance piezoelectric stages are used in the XY specimen scanner of an Atomic Force Microscope to provide sub-nanometer spacial resolution. The system consists of three components: the NanoScan NPC-D-6330 Controller, a single axis stage QGNPS-X-15B, and a nanopositioning XY stage QG-XY-100D. The separately-mounted, single axis stage (QGNPS-X-15B) oscillates the AFM proble, which provides good dynamic performance and range.
The Nanopostion Stage NPS-XY-100D is made to order and the exact specifications of your stage will be provided when you receive it. Typical specifications are as follows:
- Open Loop Range: ± 75 µm with a minimum of ± 65 µm (varies with each stage)
- Closed Loop Range: ± 55 µm with a minimum of ± 50 µm (varies with each stage)
- Scale factor error (1σ): Typical: 0.03%, Maximum of 0.1% (varies with each stage)
- Static stiffness (for all stages): 1 N/µm
- Resonant frequency: at 0g load: 650 Hz minimum, typical 780 Hz (varies with each stage)

- Maximum load: 0.5 kg for gravity acting in the Z direction

The NPC-D-6330 Controller is a 3-axis, 20 bit controller and has the following specifications:
- Interfacing: Analog command input and position output for compatibility with existing systems. Digital commands over USB for maximum accuracy with a DLL interface for customer software.

- Compatibility: Queensgate Nanobench, Micro-Manager, Metamorph, Elements via RS232C and other software using DLL interface.
