The Meiji MT8500 series metallurgical microscopes include the following:

  • Objective Lenses: DIN Infinity Corrected Optical System (ICOS) Plan Epi BD 5x, 10x, 20x and 50x mounted in a smooth-operating, ball bearing mounted, quintuple nosepiece.
  • Viewing Head (select when ordering): Siedentopf-type binocular head or trinocular head for camera integration. Each head has the eyetubes inclined at 30° with the left eyetube having graduated diopter settings. The interpupillary distance is adjustable between 53mm - 75mm. An 80/20 beamsplitter for the trinocular tube can be engaged for photo work. (100% to eyetubes or 80% to phototube & 20% to the eyetube.) 30mm ID eyetube.
  • Eyepieces: SWH10x Widefield High Eyepoint eyepieces F.N. 22 are standard with a 25mm reticle mount.
  • Total Magnification: 50x, 100x, 200x and 500x.
  • Specimen Stage: Ceramic-coated flat-top stage 191mm x 126mm, with 100mm x 100mm of travel. Equipped with precision ball bearing guides and low position drop down coaxial controls for X-Y movement.
  • Illumination (select when ordering):
    • Halogen Option: Vertical full Koehler illuminator with high intensity 12V 50 Watt halogen light source for brightfield, darkfield and polarization techniques. Automatic voltage (100v~240v) sensing transformer with intensity control supplied in separate case. The following filters are supplied in mounts: blue clear, green clear, polarizing and neutral density (ND 50). Transmitted Koehler illuminator with 6v, 30w halogen lamp built into base. Includes automatic voltage (100v~240v) sensing transformer and intensity control built into the microscope base.
    • LED Option: Vertical Koehler incident LED light source with auto voltage sensing power supply provided in a separate case. Transmitted 3W LED with 5500K color temperature. Blue clear, green clear, polarizing and neutral density (ND 25) filters supplied in metal mounts (100v~240v).
  • Focusing: Ergonomically low positioned coaxial focusing controls allow the operator to work with their forearms relaxed on the working surface. Range of travel is 23mm. Rotation of fine focus is 0.2mm per revolution.
